TRANSPORTATION To get to Cayman Islands you can enter through 3 Airports. If flying in The Cayman Islands is too fast and boring you can come on a cruse ship. Enjoy the sea and wind. All major cruse line operates to and from Cayman Islands.
Once you are in Cayman, Taxi’s are available at Airport and at the docks. Taxis are easy to find from Resorts or taxi stands.
When you need to go to buy groceries or visit your doctor or want to go to work you can walk across, go on a bicycle or a motor bike or your personal car or a public bus. It’s your choice. There is no railway system.
In Cayman Car is a must. Either you buy your own or rent it. But then you must have a driver’s license to drive as well.
Visitors can also take cars on rent. Cayman has top car rental companies as well as some local ones too. Car rental depends on the type of car you want. Season also plays its part in car rental rates. In winters the rental rates go up and in summers they are at their lowest. Tourists’ do need Visitors Driving Permit to drive a car in Cayman.
If you have settled permanently, you would definitely opt to buy your own car. You can find used and new cars in the market or if you want you can import a car of your choice.
Be sure to get your car insured. Your car will not get transferred in your name until it is fully insured.
Buying of motor bikes is also a good option if you want to save money on fuel.
Private owned bus service is also available on the Islands. There are 7 (seven) bus routes operating in Cayman carrying 14 to 25 passengers. You can hail for a bus if you see one approaching you. It will definitely stop to pick you up if there is seat available.
