Immigration & Entry Requirements - Cayman Immigration & Entry Requirements You want to visit Cayman Islands, work and take up permanent residence? Like all other countries Cayman has some requirements too.
Cayman Immigration has classified persons intending to come to Cayman Islands in two categories:
- Coming to Cayman Islands to Work (with or without dependents)
- Visiting Cayman Islands for temporary or permanent residence.
If you are a casual visitor you will be able to take up a job in Cayman Islands. It is illegal o work in Cayman Islands without a work permit. Persons found working without a work permit will be tried in the court of law, might be deported and fined in found guilty.
If you intend to come and work in Cayman, you require a work permit to be issued by by department of immigration, if you are not a Caymanian or you do not have Caymanian status. Your employer needs to apply for the work permit. But you must fill out all the required application forms. The set of application form includes:
- Application Form
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Passport size photographs ( 2 face and 1 profile)
- Medical Questionnaire completed. (Should be not more than 3 months old)
- Accommodation form.
You can hire services of a relocation agent when you plan to move to Cayman Islands when you need to find a home or school for your children.
Anyone intending to travel must look up Visa requirements for the place they intend to visit. We have good news for the citizens of United States of America, Canada and certain other countries (Listed Below) that they are exempted from the visa requirements, but have to show proof of citizenship such us passports or birth certificates in original plus photo identification (Driving License). They must hold a return air ticket to the country of origin and enough money to take care of them selves during their stay in the islands.

Residents of other countries who wish to visit or take up residency in Cayman Islands must consult British Embassies and Consulate in their countries, as they represent Cayman Islands, Department of Immigration throughout the world.
Persons visiting however can remain in The Cayman Islands for a period of One (1) month. Applications for extension in the period of stay can be made to Immigration Department.
As compared to U.S.A. and U.K., cost of living is generally high in The Cayman Islands as mostly all the commodities are imported and then the incidental costs are added upon import of goods. Utilities too are costlier as compared to the U.S.A and U.K.
